Dad's blood counts have recovered enough for him to return to work tomorrow! Praise the LORD.
Here's his latest update:
I had another weekly clinic appointment today and my blood counts were sufficiently good that my doctor released me to return to work. Thus, I will be back in the office on Tuesday morning, 27-March, for the first time in 6 months. I will have diagnostic tests (PetScan, CT-Scan, X-rays) on a periodic basis starting again on April 10th. These checkup tests will be conducted quarterly at first, then semi-annually and finally annually (probably for the rest of my life). But they tell me that my prognosis is good with about an 80% chance that the disease will not come back. With cancer, that is pretty good odds. After my April tests, I will have day-surgery to remove my implanted port-a-cath from my chest. It feels good to be released to get back into the flow of life and end my virtual isolation. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the professional care that the staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center has provided. This hopefully should be the last journal entry that you receive from me, barring a recurrence. Many thanks to all for so many kind thoughts, notes and expressions of concern. I am blessed indeed; God bless all of you. My prayers continue for those still fighting this horrible disease, including colleagues from my company.
