Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all." (Mark 9:35)
Ouch! This verse zaps me every time. I am not much of a servant. I am more of a taker, rather than a giver. I give expecting something in return or at least some sort of recognition for my efforts. When I do things for other people, I don't go out of my way or get too uncomfortable doing it. It's always on my terms. How selfish I am.
