Fun Run

I am a fairly slow runner. For me, a pace faster than 10-11 minutes/mile is a rarity. I'm so used to this pace, sometimes it seems as if I run on auto pilot. Lately, I've been "pushing myself" to speed up in order to break out of my rut. Yesterday morning I ran in the Aid Sudan 5K, finishing the course at an 8:52 min/mile pace. I couldn't believe it! I think that is the fastest I've run in a race; my body definitely protested with each step. Afterwards, I even felt as if I might barf. (I didn't.) Overall, I was so pleased with my "race pace" and thrilled to contribute to a great organization with a fantastic mission.
