Just one representation of the precision and beauty of Islamic architecture and art. The uniqueness of this style stems from the conviction that depictions of humans and animals leads to idolatry and is thus forbidden. Arabesques, fractal geometry through motifs, repeating/rhythmic designs, radiating structures, columns, domes, arches, and the use of bright colors are lavishly employed, however. Truly, Islamic architecture is both art and science! This is evident through the mathematical precision, aesthetic appeal, and symbolism represented in the style. Muslims refute supposed distinctions between secular and religious artwork. It is believed that the entirety of the natural world, as well as the elements of art, math, and science are reflections of God's character expressed in creation.
