Today is V-E day (as in "Victory in Europe Day") and marks the anniversary of the formal demise of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. Though Hitler had already committed suicide a week earlier, it was sixty-three years ago today the WWII Allies accepted the surrender of Germany's armed forces.

It must have been a very happy day. But VJ day was still 3 months away.
