School Tales: Favorites

The middle school species is the most scrutinizing, critical, and mouthy beast in all of creation. They notice everything and think it essential to speak everything.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th periods:

"What's wrong with you, Ms. K?"

"You don't look good today."

"You look different. I don't think it looks good."

"Why does she look different? BECAUSE SHE'S NOT WEARING EYE LINER."

"You should wear eye-liner."

"Did you go a partyin with Ms. B and Ms. M cause you all be lookin rough today, like y'all got wasted last night."

6th period:
"Hi Ms. K. You look different today! Your face is so bright. You look beautiful."

Ahhhhhhh yes. Yet another reason I love 6th period more than the rest. They are among the sweetest children ever and truly warm my heart! Three of them like to call me "Mom"/"Mommy", another tells me daily how happy she is to be in my class and how much she loves me, and still another writes me emails at night just to say "hi". Adorable.

They must be a domesticated breed of middle schoolers.
