"Welcome!
Today I had my first (Egyptian) Arabic lesson with my Sudanese tutor. It is one other girl and me...language learning bliss! I will meet with the tutor 1.5 hours twice per week for a pretty penny, though I feel as if I will get more than my money's worth. This is my fourth language to learn formally...and I am fluent in none! (I consider Moroccan Arabic (Darija) a separate entity from Egyptian Arabic- - they are that different)
Things I learned today:
Aywa "Yes" (Sounds like Iowa, sort of)
La-a "No"
Mish mit gawiza "I am not married" (GO FIGURE :)
Ana mandish floos "I don't have money"
Ana min Texas "I am from Texas"
Ma salama "Bye bye!"
Kefiyah! "Enough!!"

Ferris can teach you how to say "the sky is blue."
So for your upcoming bday...what are the plans??
oh, there are no plans. but you get a gold star for your remembrance of the day-of-all-days.
Imagine the sentence you could construct with all of your new phrases!
"Yes, I am from Texas. No, I don't have money. No, I am not married... Enough!! Bye bye
Now if you can learn "No, Texans don't ride horses to work" they'll know everything important about you :P
