Peeved

Pet peeve #1: Shopping.
My position on shopping is that I despise it. I would rather have another colonoscopy than shop. Out of necessity, I shop once a year and it is the worst day(s) of my life. Each and every year, I am driven to the verge of a nervous breakdown.
a) Dodging BIG people, little people, everywhere people- high and low, up and down, underfoot, and in my way.
b) Dressing this odd shape of mine is no small feat.
c) Spending money stresses me out.
d) Visiting 50 stores just to cross one thing off the list?

Oh, I hear you now...you've just revoked my woman card. Why am I bringing this up, anyway? Well, *groan*, it is currently that time of the year. Given the ridiculous amount of things to be purchased before the August move, I've shopped every day this week.

Which brings us to Pet peeve #2: Being bothered while shopping.

Scene #1 The large outdoor equipment store we all know and love, clearance racks.

40ish Creepy Salesman: "Anything I can help you with? I need to earn my keep around here."
Yours truly: (Courtesy laugh) "Nah, just browsing"

15 minutes later, same place.

40-C-S: "Can I help you? Gotta do something to earn my keep."
YT: "Nope...still browsing."

40 minutes later, same place.

40-C-S: "Hey, can I get anything for you? Need to do something to earn my keep here."
YT: "Uh no." (Lose the 'earning my keep' "joke" and we'll call it even.)

10 minutes later, same place.

40-C-S: "A guy's gotta earn his keep. Can I look for anything for you?"
YT: "NO." (FOR THE LOVE, I'll PAY YOU TO GO AWAY.)

Scene #2: 15 minutes later, in the backpack section, with a different salesperson. As we are discussing the merits of various backpacks, 40-C-S walks over and stands RIGHT next to me (airspace violation) and proceeds to stare at me for the duration of the conversation. I pretend not to notice and eventually walk off. 40-C-S tracks me down an aisle over in the stuff sack section.
40-C-S: "Hey, are you Samantha?"
YT: "Ummmm...NO?"
40-C-S: "Well, my friend called and said he was sending someone over and for me to take care of her. I've been waiting for Samantha for 2 days now.
YT: "Okay, well, definitely NOT Samantha here."

Samantha sounds like a drug dealer.
