Happy Halloween

...from the Pyramids of Giza! I spent this October 31st at the glorious wonder of the ancient world. Having visited the pyramids at Saqqara and Dashur, I finally ventured a mere 45 minutes southwest to the "real" pyramids. Despite the ridiculous commercialism (KFC and Pizza Hut) directly across the street from the pyramids and the incessant harassment ("You want camel ride?"), I was not disappointed! We went on a Friday- the Muslim holy day- which was significantly less crowded than the rest of the weekend. We lingered until near sunset, when we were booted out in favor of the notoriously cheesy light show. Can't wait to go back. We're pondering an all-day camel caravan from Saqqara to Giza...possibly on a cool winter day.
