One of my FUN, creative co-workers organized a half-marathon on the streets of Cairo this morning. The course was mapped out ahead of time and largely followed the Nile River on the Corniche. About 15 of our colleagues participated representing all ability levels. The race was complete with course maps, event t-shirts, transport arranged to the starting line, water at the mid-way point, a cheering squad at the finish line, and a scrumptious breakfast with omelets made-to-order post-race. I am still in awe that an event of this organizational magnitude could be achieved in this country. Of course, what Cairo racing experience would be complete without braving the "elements" - noise, trash, suffocating pollution, uneven sidewalks and potholes, gawking, harassment, and disapproving looks. It is an integral part of the Cairo experience. I had a great run! I finished the race in 2 hours, 5 minutes which is a personal best. I was disappointed not to finish in less than 2 hours, but maybe next time. Insha'allah.

Nuss means nut in German. Maybe there is a connection there.
Hey, I remember nuss nuss is half coffee, half milk in Morocco!
