Rishikesh, India
Christmas 2009: Insha'allah I'll be in the foothills of the Himalayas, along the Ganges, with two of my best friends! Christmas Day 2008 was actually the most lonely day of the past two years and probably my life. I was terribly homesick, to the point of a tearful meltdown. Those who know me best know that I do not get homesick and I am certainly not one to turn on the waterworks. I can count the number of times I cry in a 2-year period on one hand. Though I was in Paris having a marvelous time with one of my besties, I discovered that spending Christmas away from loved ones is a dreadful experience. I expect this year will be easier, partially since I've already been around that lonely block once before, but also since my family will just have been in for a visit at the end of November. I'm confident I'll be able to handle whatever emotional heartache I experience. Geez, I'll be in Indiaaaaaaaaaa!!
