After the last post, it occurred to me that I never fully explained my "sexual harassment" reference. Wow. In fact, two kids have been removed from my classes this year for harassing me. Time to explain one of the more odd, obnoxious aspects of my job. Hmmmm...where should I begin?
Well, the first one began rather innocuously. A student whom I shall refer to as "Ryan" sure did enjoy my class: "I love your class Ms. K, you're my favorite teacher". Well that soon became "You're hot, Ms. K and I love you". Anything he turned in had hearts drawn all over it. Mildly humorous. Before long he would disrupt my class by referring to me as "hottie" or "sexy" rather than "Ms. K" and singing love songs to me during class. It was ridiculous. I couldn't teach my class. Nor could I discipline him: "You're so hot when you're mad, Ms. K". One day I was fed up with all of the disruptions so I banished him to the hallway. Banish? He made his presence known. He began singing "I'm in love with my teacher" at the top of his lungs and sending these hand-crafted love letters to me under the door. Not to mention my classroom door was defaced with all sorts of adjectives about me on it. Needless to say, his tenure in my class was rather short-lived. And to update you, he still stalks my classroom 6 months later begging me to give him a hug. PERV!
The most recent incident occurred just this semester. "JR" would continuously poke me anytime I would re-direct his misbehavior or check his work. Most of the time he would poke my arms or shoulders but sometimes it was my stomach. When I asked him to stop, he refused. And let me just say, these kids are huge! "JR" was sent to the alternative learning center for the remainder of this semester for "assault".
