The Stream, Part 2

*I am in the middle of giving my two (LARGE) classrooms a big, MUCH NEEDED facelift. This "facelift" involves stripping off the old wallpaper, re-painting the walls, and other random updates. This probably wasn't the thing to do 3 weeks before I leave. Somehow I always manage to underestimate the time & effort involved in projects. What I thought was 2 days is definitely pushing 2 weeks.

*We are still at stage 1: soaking, scraping, and stripping wallpaper. The said wallpaper is everlasting wallpaper. I believe it was applied with superglue. After a strenuous day of scraping on Friday, I prayed that the wallpaper would be unleashed over the weekend and we would return to the school today to find it peeling itself off the walls. That was not to be.

*I say "we" because I have an unbelievably awesome mom and sister who have been soaking, scraping, and stripping wallpaper with me! They get up at the crack of dawn, drag all these supplies into the car, and drive an hour to the school only to do tedious, tiring manual labor for 10 hours, then drive the hour back home. To be continued this week. They are incredibly generous, supportive, helpful, and A-mazing and that's just another reason why.

*Mom has a secret recipe for wallpaper stripper that we refer to as "Jan's Juice". Rumor has it that it involves hot water, DIR, and a few other household items.

*Andrea (sister) provides the comic relief.

*In much need of a shower and a snooze after all this work today with a full day of wallpaper removal ahead tomorrow, I shall sign off. "Early to bed, early to rise"... although I'll neither be wealthy nor wise

*Did I mention that I have an awesome family?!!

For Andrea :)
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!

It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,

yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?

A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest-

and poverty will come on you like a bandit
and scarcity like an armed man. (Prov. 6:6-11)
