Perhaps I should analyze my use and possible over-use of this word.
"Quit griping; you sound like a baby."
"Gripe, gripe, gripe...does anything make you happy?"
"Instead of griping that you got too many green Skittles,
how about being thankful that you got Skittles at all?"
"I thought you were my big boy 8th grader.
By the sounds of your griping, obviously I thought wrong."
"Nick" tried my word on for size. He decided he liked it so much, he used his library time to look in the dictionary and discovered that "gripe" is, indeed, a real word. "Ms. K, I looked it up in the dictionary and IT'S A REAL WORD!" No kidding.
Gripe
v. intr.
1) To complain naggingly or petulantly; grumble.
2) To have sharp pains in the bowels.
Interesting. Sharp pains in the bowels? As in, "Your griping really gripes me." Perfect.

What is the deal with these kids and being so pessimistic about everything??
"Miss, why are the rice crispie treats so small?" "Why do we have to bake cookies that are already made?" "Why did you make us late?" "Why do I have to do this since I already know how to cook?" "Miss, why do you get to eat in front of us??" "Miss, this is too hard!"
I think I will make Monday a day of focusing on those who are less fortunate and show them they have no room to complain about anything!
Why I ain't get no skittes??
