School Tales: Ant Farm

One thing I detest about working in a large school district is the bureaucracy and ridiculous amount of red tape to do anything. Routine maintenance of the kitchen labs requires a constitutional amendment. We have an ant infestation. It is disgusting. The ants seem to multiply and expand their territory day by day. At the first sighting of ants last week, we requested the services of an exterminator. The exterminator allegedly treated the labs on Friday evening, although dousing the room in sugar water would have been more effective than his magic potion. I even found some ants in a package of frozen chicken in the freezer. Today they are all over a 3rd kitchen and the floor, which by the way, looks as if it hasn't been mopped in awhile- - another thing I have to "request", because someone obviously has not been doing her job. Maybe it was my lesbian stalker. Ok, whatever. Maybe the third work order request will be the charm.
